Default Damage out of nowhere.

Hi,

I was on my first patrol using the latest version of TM. I was submerging for the day west of Formosa, with no enemies in sight, when all of a sudden, I started getting damage to the deck gun and flak gun. The crew started talking with excited voices as they would under attack I suppose. Trouble is they kept it up for the rest of the patrol. Is this a new or old bug?? Is it a stock bug or a TM bug??

Possible if you were at periscope depth that there were planes flying over you that could see you underwater and were dropping DC's on you.

LeafsFan,

It is not a bug. It is because Ducimus gave the planes better sighting AI in TM. I have had this happen numerous times, until I finally figured it out. The cure is to dive deeper, I usually go down to about 120', during the day when in enemy territory.

What's kind of funny is if you get depth charge damage to your guns while under water, even at 350 feet, your gun crew gets injured as if they were still at station on the surface. That doesn't make sense to me! It's not like they're still sitting at their gun stations while underwater .. lol.

The crew hooting and hollering the rest of the patrol is a pain.

That's just wrong on so many different levels.

Default CTD

Yes you are a victim of the evil Ducimus' CTD: Compulsive Tweaking Disorder. He has planes from up to nearly five miles away able to see you at periscope depth and depth charge you. Although this ignores the refractive index of water, which would render anything under the water at less than a certain angle (this would change with temperature and salt content) would be invisible, as any light rays would merely be reflected off the surface, both from above and below.

However, it adds a palpable sense of doom to the game, and with a reduced range for detection, might even be arguably realistic. I consider it Ducimus' version of the creation of Deltona, Florida. The designer woke up in the middle of the night with a nightmare, wrote it down and built it the next day.:rotfl:You don't go into Deltona without a GPS, maps, a cell phone and two days' food, and you don't play TM 1.7 if you enjoy living! It's a killer. Even GWX isn't that brutal in SH3.:rotfl:War is a dangerous game. Now you can feel it.

This particular aspect is being retuned so its not so over the top. The orginal settings i defined were less dangerous in patch 1.3 then they are now in patch 1.4. The current threat level of planes isnt intended, although they are intended to be able to see a shallow sub.

Ok".. so today i start up SH4 and begin to play like always and befor i know it There
is water spraying from pipes inside the command room and the conning tower.

Well by this time i'm freeking out, Don't know whats going on.. just that theres water poring in around me, I go strait to the damage screen.. (but theres no damage) And my hull number is still 0%.

The very next thing i do is to asign my dc party.."There all wide awake and on there toes", Well after 2 and a half hours game time we still have the same water leaks that we had when i started the game. Here are some pics.

What can be causeing this damage that i can't fix ?, Im only running texture mods
and patch 1.4, any help is appreciated... Thank you.

Ps. no mines cause i checked for that posibility,... Also i only save on the surfuss never underwater.

Oopps, one more pic,......."I hate getting wet!!

@flyingdane

I'm not sure what caused the original damage but the water leaks will continue even after the damage is fixed. It's a graphical glitch, not an indication of persistent damage.
