Default Black Sky, Grey Clouds - Advice Apprectiated

Genedige Karleuns,

I have just successfully loaded GWX2 but have a slight problem. My sky shows up as black instead of blue (black with grey clouds. Have you any ideas what could be causing this?

Advice appreciated

Hi!

We have generally found this happens when people don't start with a clean Silent Hunter III installation; the general problem is often that they forgot to roll back SH3 Commander or failed to use JSGME to completely uninstall all Silent Hunter III mods before installing GWX.

In this case, the specific problem is likely that there is a basic incompatibility between a mod that changed the scene.dat file and a mod that changed the skycolors.dat file.

I think your best bet is to re-isntall GWX on a clean installation of Silent Hunter III with the V1.4b patch installed, ensuring that you have rolled back SH3 Commander and that JSGME indicates all mods are uninstalled.

Hope this helps!

Pablo

I installed 16k atmosphere, and got this error (black sky). How I can fix this problem?

I tried rolling back SH3 commander w/o success

This also happens if people forget to Rollback SH3Commander!

Always Rollback before installing anything!

Genedige Karleuns,

I have managed to get it working without the black sky/grey clouds. I had not uninstalled all of the mods still sitting in my JSGME mod enabler - moral here, uninstall everything.

I previously had some really good skins (cobalt VIIC/41) which no longer seem to work without a black sky. I am going to try uninstalling 16k and revert back to 8k to see if I can run them then. I will keep you posted.

Karleun's,

I am indebted to you. I uninstalled the 16k mod and I have managed to get my beloved Cobalt VIIC/41 skin working - NO BLACK SKY. Thanks for the advice and gute jagd mein freunde.

Rgds
