Default No Weather Effects?

I've been sitting here thinking. I've had SHIV for around 2 weeks now and I know I haven't seen any rain like effects in the game.

I've seen some high winds and such but not rain. Given I have only played till around Feb of 42 (reload campaigns for mods), so I might not have seen the rainy weather yet? Has anyone seen rain between Dec 7 41 to Feb of 42? If not then thats why I haven't seen any, if so how often?

I have an NVIDIA Gefore 7900 Go on my laptop and I have no graphic problems.

If anybody can sheed light on my idiocy it would be appreciated Thanks.

I might be sticking my unit out for ridicule by saying this, but I believe that depending upon your position, you would be in the Southern Hemisphere. If that's true, than I think February would bring with it Summer like weather. If I'm correct (and if I'm not, I'm sure I'll be corrected ) You'll get the rains later in the year.

It will come. Sometimes you time compress right though bad weather.

As a tip, when I am time compressing, I hit ctr + w ( weather report in Trigger ), if it is storming I come out of it and usually catch some nasty stuff.

Not sure what the weather report option is in other mods :hmm:

When you get the rain you'll post here asking how to make it go away.

If you want to see rain, go play SH3

I just fired it up again to regain some skills before GWX2, and of course got one of those month long world-wide storms right on the first patrol.

Thats so true. I swear Typhoons out of Japan and the Phillipines are the never ending wrath of God tomy crew. If I understandcorrectly you cant saveand load ina storm, as it resets the clock for the durration of said storm. kinda sux, just gotta grip the rails and ride her through.

Aren't they just glorius though! Blinding rain, wind howling, thunder cracking and sea swells up into the conning tower.

Man I just love it!

I've seen no evidence or proof of:
1) weather changes are based on a "clock" or timer.
2) saving/restoring has any repeatable affect on weather generation.

Be careful not to start an urban legend. I've seen storms spaced hours apart with a brief calm between them and storms that lasted days. Rather, my impression is weather moves and has location centers.

If you have no weather report in your SH4 Sim do this:

Go into Data/Cfg/Commands.cfg file with notepad

Find the Cmd261 line

[Cmd261]
Name=Report_weather
Ctxt=1
MnID=0x3F250006
Key0=0x57,c,"ctrl+w"
;

Last night I was in the "Celebes Sea" ( 1st week of Jan. 1942 ) late at night I was in a very violent storm with rain coming down in torrents with a Japanese freighter off to my port side about 800 feet and nothing I could do about it. I'm sure the Japanese Captain was very happy.
