Can't re-activate game after uninstall!! HELP

I uninstalled SH3 tonight in preparation for the GWX 2 d/l and after reinstall i can't reactivate my game with the serial # i had. I went to the starforce page and entered that and my hardware code, and it says

Attention!

•The Serial Number entered has not been found in the server's database. Make sure the Serial Number is not mistyped and try again.

What the hell is going on here? I bought the thing and now i can't reinstall it? It says something about some deactivation code but i saw no such thing. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

By the way.. I downloaded this from Direct2Drive... not a retail copy, but digital version.

when you downloaded SH3 from direct2drive... Was there ever an exchange of money?

Uhhh yea. I bought it. I have a CD key here but it won't work anymore apparently due to starforce. Really has me pissed.

hmmm, thats strange... SH3 has never asked me for a cd key or activation code. I'm sure someone has a workaround

I assume yours is a store bought retail copy... not a download though.

I have never heard of having to enter a CD key on a game that is not Online....did you get special version or something?

Nope, a downloaded digital version from Direct2Drive. I bought it there and instead of at a store. It was an issue with starforce, but after some digging online i found a solution to it which was a patch from starforce to correct this problem. I got it installed and am now anxiously awaiting my 2.0 email
