Try another base. You can only dock at your home base, and it may change without any notice during patrols. Also, judging by the blue anchors it seems like you have and older version of SH4. Since 1.4 the icon of your home base is different from all the others.

Early war in the Philippines, (usually second or third patrol,) you should get a radio message saying that Manila is under constant air attack and that you need to go to Java to dock.

Thing is, as you have stated, the blue anchor will still hang around Manila for a while afterwards. Later you'll get the message that Manila has fallen to the Japs and the blue anchor will vanish until later in the war.

Hope you have the fuel for the trip. (If not, I think yer career has just ended.)

Yer screwed. I started a career outta Pearl and got tired of the long uneventful trips to the coast of Japan, so I got a transfer.

I was with the Asiatic fleet for one or two patrols and they sent my ass back to Pearl.

Good chance the same has happened to you.

The port in East Aus is Brisbane.

Right near the top on the left side of Subsim home page you will find this link:
SH4 Patch 1.4 released!
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=125812

When people ask if a file is big it usually means they are on dialup. Nearly all game paches these days are painfully large for diaup users and I'm sure this one is too.
