Hi!
Its early 1944 and I'm still alive in my IXC! I'm would like to change to a VII instead, but i wonder what's the difference between the different versions of VII? The manual says what it says, but in the game the specifications are the same for the variants VIIC, VIIC/41 and VIIC/42. Same renown cost, same operational depth, same diving time, same range, same speed. I'm using GWX 1.03 and the newest commander (no other mods). Is this a bug, a problem in GWX or something I just don't understand?

There really isnt much difference between VIIC and VIIC-41 except you get different uboat upgrades(I think) Like the radar absorbing material, Tarmatte. Im in a delimma between choosing the VIIC41 or keep the VIIB that I have.
I know the depth is different in the VIIC42, but that's about all I know as this being my first career and I have yet to see it.(Dec. '43) I dont think that there is a bug between the VIIC variants. The VIIC42 can go deeper. But if youre used to a TypeIX, then be prepared to have less tonnage because of the torpedo load. (Well, you can still get higher tonnages, just choose your targets wisely) I like the faster diving times of the VII compared to the times of the IX. I think you'll enjoy the VII. I'm still using the VIIB and its Dec '43 and I'm loving life. If you do pick the VII and you dont like it you can always go back to a previous save. Edit: I'm playing GWX1.03 and SH3 Commander, too |

Same with me.
I'm also one of those VIIB drivers and it has many drawbacks. But when I tried to make the move to IXB or IXC I had to realize, that my diving times are greater, that my turning circle is greater and most annoying of all, taht my underwater range is painfully shorter. So, you can reverse taht around and you knwo what you will get more form a VII. But remember that you only carry 14 torpedos in a VII! ![]()

If my memory is right you get one extra eel with a VII/42 apart from that I don't think there is much deferents with the VII/41 & VII/42.

you get 2 extra with the VIIC/42
They also can dive incredibly deep.... But they never were made, they were cancelled in favour of the XXI The VIIC/41 is a deep diver too. It can go down below 300m but you have to start the game with commander.... |

IIRC you also need a special mod for the deeper dive not?
Cobalts VIIC/41 modcan be found on this forum. |
