many people will think i am crazy, but i am a seaman, so, what did i do? i start shadowing convoy, yes to all sh3 real players i am shadowing convoy. we all know what is attacking, we all know what is escapeing, but how many of us know what is shadowing??? YES we all know definition of shadowing, but did u try it? i am yust making, i decide to SHADOW convoy for 24 hours and i am doing in time 1:1. Why,because u cant shadow othervise, did u try (btw) to shadow convoy at 256X time, you cant do it, you are too slow or you are just too fast and enemy can see you, so I AM SHADOWING CONVOY IN TIME 1:1 FOR MINIMUM 24 STUNDE, AFTHER THAT I MUST GO AROUND CONVOY TO ATACK. question is: AM I CRAZY OR NOT?

You're not crazy. You bought a video game that has many styles of play and you are doing one that you enjoy.

Real time stuff is the best part of the game, no doubt. But lack of free time and junk makes it tough.
But since there are no real wolf pack type attacks there's no need to shadow for a long time.

Unless you are waiting for better conditions for attack.

Or unless you are near enough to an Axis airbase and want to see if planes will come to attack the convoy.

Or unless you just have fun doing it

thx for replay Herr Kaleun, and yes i am waiting for better conditions, and yes i am near Axis airbase (biscay) and YES , from me i dont care, i am shadowing and atlantic is MINE, and no british is gonna create my HISTORY!!! (lol)

Did it through 19 grids heading southwest for better weatherconditions and gave up finally. After detecting their course I stopped for several hours, then caught up with them, stopped again, caught up, stopped ...
The weather changed only from really bad to worse and back.

And yes, of course I used time compression.

you can do a lot of strange things in the game, i sneaked in the mediterranean with a IX-boat, ressuply in the specia base and return to the atlantic , i was near to die some times and not return .. is crazy and masochist visit gibraltar two times .

but was funny

shadow is useful with bad weather early in the war, when the weather changes to clear you can use your guns

Nothing crazy about acting like a real kaleun. I agree that shadowing is hard at higher TC but as long as you are careful it can be done although I prefer not to go higher than 32x as you can see whether the escorts are onto you or not.

I do overtake at up to 128x though quite successfully as long as you are outside their sensor range which gets harder the later on into the war you go.

I normally don't do it for a full 24 hours either just until it is dark enough to make an attack.

To each his own mate, I prefer to sink anything in sight within my torpedo and distance limits. That's something great about this game, it offers multiple playing styles and it's all up to you.

no friendly planes, subs, or ships, no whonder that germany lost war,

i must do all by myselfe and i did it: large tanker sunked, medium tanker sunked, large cargo dameged. i hate this damage model, 2 torps in large cargo and she dont ewen slow down. but what the hell ok i sink 2 tankers so there is no fuel for british planes and tanks, maybe we can win this time
