It looks like a brake failure during an engine run.I remember doing one many years ago in an A300.We hads lots of fuel on board as ballast and both pilots literally standing on the brakes as the parking brake would not hold it.Quck run up to full power one engine at a time, stabilise, take some readings and then back to idle.
The banking that the 340 went through is a noise deflector.
This is the press release:
AIRBUS press release #1

Issued at 15 November 2007, 20:15

Accident at Saint-Martin Airbus site

Toulouse: Airbus deeply regrets to confirm that an accident occurred at its Saint-Martin site in Toulouse this afternoon.

The accident occurred at 5:00 pm local time, when engine-run-ups were being carried out on an A340-600, MSN 856, which was due to be delivered to Etihad in the coming days.

There were nine persons on board out of them five people sustained injuries. There are no fatalities.

At this time, recovery operations are still in progress and Airbus staff is working closely with the emergency services and local authorities at the site.
Airbus expresses its sympathy to the families and friends of the persons concerned.

Airbus will provide the full support to the official investigation authorities in France.

Ouch, That's got to hurt. It looks like the aircraft will be a write off from the pictures. The ftont third of the aircraft destroyed, left wing damaged and some tail end damage as well.

They may be able to do a cut and attach a new piece but the trouble will be trying to slot it back into the production line.I imagine it will be an insurance write off.The 340-600 has not been very popular so it may just be parted.Iberia damaged one last week in Quito on landing:
