Default FPS/Time Compression

Im using just GWX an SH3Commander.....

Just recently after I raided NYC harbor ...

I cannot max my compression at 1048 or my FPS goes to 2.

At TC 1, I am at 02% CPU with 980k still, at 50 FPS

At the load a saved game screen Im at 430k 0 CPU usage and 1600 FPS.

Checking Task Manager has revealed that while running max TC SH3exe is using 95% CPU an 980,264 KB...GASP

I have nothing on this machine but games. 29 processes running the bare minimum.

Next highest process is explorer fer 20 k.

I run an AMD 3400 / 3Gigs of Ram / NVDIA gEFORCE 7800

I have been running GWX ET AL for months now without so much as a hiccup, now quite suddenly out of nowhere I am bogged down.

You've probably set 3D TC too high in SH3 Commander. Even when you are in a 2D view, 3D "stuff" still happens in the background if you are at a TC which is lower than or equal to the 3D TC setting.

Hope this helps

Hmm... did you touch character animation or particle TC settings? They will also slow the game down... otherwise, I'm out of ideas, sorry *shrug*

Ridiculous as it may sound, even the smallest line you draw on your map may slow down fps when zooming far in or doing TC'ing...

There is also a 'quirk' with SH3 & TC when you sink shipping in relatively shallow water.

For some reason, the SH3 Engine does not 'unrender' these sunk vessels and will infact keep them loaded in it's memory and continue to track them below the sea bed.

Maybe why a new patrol has fixed your woes.

Dan..

I think you might be right about that...

I had just finished a raid on NYC... I had sunk 2 destroyers on the way in and a tanker in the harbor proper and then 2 DDs on the way out.. ( Screenshots in my post titled hey StealthHunter I changed my mind ) ALL in shallow waters...

As I do little too no hunting in the shallows that maybe why I have never experienced this bug before...

Im just glad its gone.. It was quite the suck steaming from NY to Lorient at a slow TC...
