Default NVidia settings Q

Hello! I have a question. The picture is glittering, like this:

(this is a GWX screenshot, but it's the same with stock versn)

I guess it's a graphic card settings problem (those filtrations etc, I'm not a pro in those), 'cause few days ago I had to reinstall the system; before that, everything was ok. Can you please share the suitable settings to solve it?

My configuration is
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
3Gb
2x GeForce 8800GTX SLI
XP SP2

And also those strange artefacts at the horizon:

And also, when I rotate my view outside, some strange artefacts also quickly appear and disappear instantly - more like black polygons or ship parts?

Default I had similar problems...

To me it looks like your Nvidia settings are set to default.

Try adjusting your 3D settings with the Nvidia control panel in particular the antialaising and antisostropic filters. There are also some others.

You should be able to manage 8x if not 16x on both. I have mine set to 16x and 4x to improve framerates. Below each setting there is a description of what its does, read it and select what is best for your preferance.

First make sure you have the latest drivers installed from the NVidia website.

My card is a Nvidia superclocked 1Gb 7950 GTX so it somewhat similar.

Hope this helps or points you in right direction.

Thank you, I'll try to set it when be back home! Though, I tried to set all the setting to max quality - with the same effect... I just wonder, if it's antialiasing which is the most responsible for those glitching rigging?

Just turn on antialiasing and anisotropic filtering - this will increase image quality.
But if you have done that and still have poor IQ then change driver to something better than 163.xx version (they suck on older cards - maybe they are good for 8 series?). And dont turn on any optimisations - you have powerfull sli rig - you dont need that.

It's not really a graphics error, anyway. I have it too, it happens a lot depending on your system but it's just jagged banding caused by trying to render distinct and seperate lines that are very thin.

If you imagine they're basically a pixel thin an almost vertical line would be arranged like this in pixels:

Code:
x
x
 x
 x
  x
  x
   x
   x
So you get jaggies and other weird looking things. I don't know how AA fixes it, but it's magical.

Sometimes setting the maximum setting can cause just as many problems thats why I turned antialaising down to only 4x. I can go to 16x if need be. This was because on screen the u-boat would appear to gitter across the screen rather thasn glide through the waves.

I also changed:

mip filter optimisation = on
force mipmaps = bilinear
gamma correct antialaising = on
multi GPU performance mode = force slit frame rendering

Hope this helps.

Phew! After a few days of testing, I finally got the solution! Just in case if someone else encounters such problem: AA gamma correction must be OFF! Kpt Otto advised to set it on in previous post, but for me it works nice with OFF - no more "ladders" etc;
of artefacts appear on surface view - still have to test, I have very few time recently to play.

While anti-aliasing is a very nice way to improve graphics, you might want to try running the game in higher display resolution with the custom dll thingy, that is if you're not using it already.
