Default GWX question- capital ships

I was wondering whether there was a way to know if any large warships will be docked at Scapa or Loch Ewe? Having fought/sneaked my way in to Scapa twice, the biggest warship there was a destroyer, which didn't seem worth the effort.

Welcome aboard kaleun Fairweather

Here is a link to capital ships in the stock/vanilla game....those in GWX are not too many miles apart, however, there are some differences

Thanks, I may have to go in again! Smashing mod though, even if I haven't seen a warship bigger than a C class yet.

A little hint....think of true life dates (historically accurate ones) and you'll not go far wrong

Thanks for the help- I may need to check my history books, as I'm still no bigger than a troop transport. If there was anything there, it would be near the actual base, wouldn't it?

Get SH3Gen. You can set it to give you various levels of intelligence, including absolute omnipotence.

Early war the English fleet spent a lot of time at sea
Couple of days in port then out
Tis impossible to script it all but there are plenty of historical movements
IIRC the complete timeline for HMS Hood is in there plus a boatload of others

If the ships is in dock it will be inside the harbour
Wouldnt be good form to leave it outside unprotected now would it

That's a very good point. I just had the vision of me finding nothing at one end of Scapa and there being a fleet at the other. I've got a whole timeline of Hood somewhere though....
Thanks for all your answers and help.

Prien was a little unlucky - if you can call it that - when he sank the Oak
Luftwaffe recon had picked up a lot more capital shipping - almost all the Home fleet - inside Scapa
IIRC there was a carrier docked next to Oak that sailed with the rest of the fleet after the recon and before Prien got there - leaving him only the Oak and an old seaplane tender as viable targets

You pays your money and takes your choice

But he was lucky in that the route he used to get in was blocked the day after. The blockship arrived late. Bad timing or what?

Would have been if the rest of the home fleet were still in
That would have been some sight through the periscope

Like a kid in a candy shop
