hello sub-mates, hoping for a bit of wisdom again..
I downloaded and installed SH3Commander 2.7 a week or so back, and it has been fine, though I don't always remember to go into the game that way and wonder if that matters. About the same time I downloaded JSGME and thought I had set it up right, but in fact I hadn't, and none of the mods were actually installed. Today I downloaded U.jagd 1.2 GWX, and in trying to get that installed, realised I hadn't done the job with JSGME, so added all the mods, including jagd. I also copied the latter into the MODS folder. When I next tried to run the game, whether through SH3 Commander or not, it crashed to desktop just after the load save screen, so you don't get as far as 'not so long ago', and the error message identifies simdata.dll as the culprit. I think it highly likely that the culprit is not some poor innocent library file, but ME, not reading instructions properly and poking things where they didn't oughta go. With no mods and no SH3Commander, the game runs fine, but others can have them on so I think I ought to be able to enjoy them as well So, I have rolled back and uninstalled SH3Commander, but can't find an uninstaller for JSGME. I want to clear out the MODS file in the SH3 folder ( not the GWX one of course) - can I do that? and is there anything else I should do so as to be as sure as I can that it is all going on properly when I reinstall Commander and the modder utility? - apart from RT(ahem)FM as someone suggested in another place and on a different matter ![]() |

Having recently fubar'd my own game i can associate lol.
1st steped probably missed was rolling back SH3Commander before adding or subtracting any mods but since you have your stock version working you are well on your way to recovery. The steps i took were to get the game running, bring it up to 1.4, installed gwx, installed the 1.03 mod. Installed jsgme 1.7 installed sh3 commander and the files into its config folder for gwx then i used jsgme to install the mods i wanted then refired up the game and all works well. Hope that helps |

right, found those (I think) and unzipped to Config folder in SH3. The ones I saw in JSGME were to do with medals on crew, visibility, fixing french, something to do with gramophone, ohhh, can't remember t'uthers. The visibility range was the one I most wanted..:hmm: Ahh, got them back ( but not yet activated), restored them from the MODS folder I sent to the recycle bin. I shall put one on at a time and see what happens... this could take some time..

hmmm, if I activate lite harbour, Das Boot movie, and atmosphere, it crashes and simdata.dll is identified as the problem ( yes I roll back SH3C before changes), but atmosphere on its own is accepted.
Oh well... would have liked to have Das Boot - I had it before I had to reformat and reinstall I think... anyway, ta for help ![]() |

Then sounds like could be the lite harbour if its simdata :hmm:
Just a thought You couldnt have got the original lite harbour traffic mixed up with the 1.03 one ? That would simdata CTD Open that lite traffic SCR up in Notepad and it should say what version it is in the title Last edited by bigboywooly; 10-19-07 at 07:00 PM. |

Even the most experienced players can 'stub their toes' with adding mods.
![]() The best fail safe I have found is use of mulitSH3. An almost instant back-up available. I have saved carrers this way, which is a plus. I too have forgotten to roll back or goofed up some damn thing. PIA but it sure triggors your memory.

It is a little work to set up but after that you can have a stock back-up and also run any modded version you want.

I'm sorry She-Wolf, but your subject thread cracked me up!
This forum is mostly us hairy male types who say things like: )(*^*%&**! won't run! or $#&%@$! My game keeps crashing! To see "phooey!" made me go: say wha-? I'm trying to imagine someone like Kaleun Blaz going: "Oh phooey! I missed that tanker!" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: |

Personally I've never had any problems installing mods for SH3 (yes I know that i've just jinxed myself.)
Regrads to your problem She-wolf, try mulitSH3, and this 'should' sort things out for you, if not you might have to re-install SH3 (last resort) |
