Ot; Monitor Choices Lcd 24"
Hi ALL,
I intend to buy a 24" lcd widescreen monitor and need your opinions. My main interests are gaming etc, I have seen many reviews which just add to my confusion. sample; "Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW (NOT GOOD FOR GAMING - TOM’S HARDWARE" "Dell 2407WFP UltraSharp 24-inch LCD display - Ghosting and streaking issues" "Gateway FPD2485W 24" Widescreen LCD .27mm pixel pitch issue of shadowing. buzzing Max" "Samsung SyncMaster 245B - TN PANEL 245T - PVA wide (- color isues)" "Gateway FPD2485W 24" Widescreen LCD .27mm pixel pitch issue of shadowing. buzzing Max At this point in time I would not recommend this monitor due to the number of problems I've seen reported around the web" Soooo, I'm turning to the guys who know......What do 24" lcds do you own and recommend or which 24" lcds have you seen good reviews on?. ![]() Still looking.

All I can say is what happened to me.
After several months of reading these forums (actually il2 forums) went to Best Buy and guy the SAMSUNG 226 22" ,and to make a long story short... I went through three of them in 10 days...bad colors/washed out, hard to (impossible) to adjust, not to good cust service. then I picked up the HP W2007 took it home & plugged it in & have nev er looked back. It is about as good as it gets. I know 22" isn't 24", but the quality of the company brand is. check out the HP. |

Every monitor (or more properly the panel itself) evaluated will provide something for the reviewer to complain about. They're all about trade-off and balance. Keep in mind that practically every LCD needs to be calibrated to some degree or another in order to look it's best. Some of them more so than others... to the point where the worst looking monitor in an uncalibrated group of monitors can end up looking the best of the bunch after they've been calibrated. Reviewers some times take this into account, other times not.
Now the primary use of this computer right here is gaming and web browsing. I've had a Sammy 225BW attached to it and liked it. At the time it was bit on the expensive side, and that's about the only negative thing I have to say about it. I currently own a Dell 2707WFP and love it. It was (relatively) expensive as well - mainly because of it's size - but in this case I think well worth it. I can tell you that Silent Hunter looks awesome! ![]() JD Last edited by jdkbph; 10-14-07 at 10:56 AM. |

JDKPH,
Very nice write-up. That's the kind of "opinion" I need.

I don't see the LG 245WP listed (or Benq 241W which has the same A-MVA panel). The LG is considered to be one of the better options for gaming since it has very low input lag, solid response times and low price. TNs are faster but suffer from viewing angles. Be sure to check this LG before you make a decision.
The best 24" would probably be the Nec 2490WUXi but it's a professional S-IPS monitor and is too expensive.
