GWX, October 1940.
As I'm sailing about the BF grid, a convoy is reported with four submarines marked pursuing it. Is this a wolfpack in the making? U99 changes course to intercept and sights the convoy escorts at dusk. A brief dip under the waves allows the hydrophone operator to confirm that this is indeed the large convoy we were looking for... But, should I hang about for the other subs? Are wolfpacks simulated in GWX? I mean, why bother programming them to appear on the map if they don't really exist? I'd hate to squander a perfect opportunity (and halfway decent weather) for a night attack waiting for subs that aren't going to turn up. But if they do, will they draw off some of the escorts? Comments please? What should I do?

They wont turn up. GWX messages are mostly for immersion and dont really mean anything.

Historical messages are for immersion yes
Map contacts are generated by the game There is a chance the wolfpack will be sunk as they are surfaced - game limitation ATM, is currently being worked on You may approach the convoy and find ships on fire or the escorts missing as behind dealing with the subs The choice is yours |

it would be great to take part in a running gauntlet like that with a pack

For clarity, the subs are shown on the map, not in a message... but I'm first to arrive, so I'll attack in the night, and hopefully cause an emergency turn or something, giving the others change to catch up. Only got 5 torps left, (3 in tubes, 2 in storage but the sea's been too rough to transfer them) so perhaps this will be my last attack anyway.
And yes, BdU, I am trying to "Be more aggressive." Why do you think i joined up; to cruise around in all this foul North Atlantic weather for fun? ![]()
