Default Win XP 32 or 64?

I'm holding off on Vista for now. I have a choice of Win XP Pro 32 bit or 64 bit on a new computer. I have WinXP Pro 32 bit. Is 64 noticably better than the 32 bit version and will SH3 (and most other games) run well on it?

Hmm, maybe this will help you decide:

If you ask me, stick with XP 32.

32 bit OperatingSystems kann address a maximum of 4 GB memory.
I bet only a few have 4GB in their computer and need even more.
64 bit drivers for lots of components will not be available for quite a long time.
Normal PC users cannot take any advantage from 64 bit systems.
The overall performance does not benefit from 64 bit.
Why take one ?

Well, not exactly. XP 32 will only recognize 3 GB of RAM (even if you physically have 4 GB). That's the limit, no matter what you do.

That's right. You may have problems finding 64 bit drivers for some devices.
Really, don't bother getting XP 64.

Thank you! I'll stay with 32 bit.

I have XP 64 bit on my server.

Can you guess why its on the server?

Mega compatability issues...

Edit: Try thinking about running an old dos game that uses expanded memory on a new windows machine which uses exclusivly extended memory... Oh, the headaches...

It depends on the Chipset. 32bit Windows itself can address and use 4 GB but there are some chipsets that can only control 3GB or even less.
