Default how to save games

Hi Everyone,
Can anyone tell me how games are saved? All I get are the autosave files. When I try to save I lose the game. Do I need to save when I return to base or is autosave enough? I got back after a good patrol (by my standards as a learner) then , after refuelling etc, clicked save. Next time I loaded I was back to square one.

I rotate the same two saves at sea, overwriting each time. So I'll save a game called TDK1 and then about five minutes later save TDK2. Five minutes later TDK1 again and so on. I rotate and save frequently. I have never had a corrupt save in either SH3 or SH4 doing it this way. The one time I had a power outage, I was able to reload my last save and I only lost a few minutes of game time. I also save in the office prior to a mission.

You need to enter a name to save under--like your name or
TM 1, etc. Then you click on what you have entered and then click Save.

Press esc or that red bit above the TC number to take you to the save page . Type in a save name . Press save . Then press resume patrol . Do not have replay ticked at any stage ever. When you save again just press save . It will ask do you want to overwrite . Say yes then press resume patrol . Save only while in 1 TC , on the surface with radar off and no sightings or contacts of any kind . That is all .

I save at any time an find no ill effects, I just don't tic the replay option. I've never turned off radar an even saved while being hunted by DD an re-started game with no problem. One thing I do is delete the replay.tmp an save.tmp, there only needed while game is running or if you ticked the reply option b4 you start ur career.

Default Still cannot save games.

Hi Guys,
Sorry to keep on but none of the replies actually helps me to save a game. When I click Esc Save I get a panel headed
Save games. It has autosaves and nothing else. No way can I type in a name, then save the game, as we did in SH3. Is there somewhere that I can disable this Autosave facility and decide for myself?

Saving my game

Okay, so I'm a member of the slow learners association. Just noticed a tiny hyphen under the Save Panel and YES, when I type there it works, so thanks for all your efforts and sorry for wasting forum time and space!!!
