Default What the......!

Hi Guys (and Girls),

I eas on the way home from my 2nd patrol and was feeling pretty good after sinking 90,000+ tons of shipping. I got a aircontact that would detect me if I staid on the surface, but I had enough of diving to periscope depth during my patrol off Japan, so I manned the AA guns and told them it was open season.

The plan came in range and was identified as a Mavis, My AA gunners let fly and killed her. Now this is where the story gets interesting...

The Mavis had release her bomb before she was killed and they were headed straight at me! They landed on the port side near the conning tower. The Mavis decided to follow the bombs and crashed directly into the conning tower Big explosion, boat rocking, waiting for the damage reports to come streaming in saying were about to sink. Guess what, nothing! Didn't even scratch the paint!

This isn't what has happend in the past! I just wish I has a screen shot (was too busy curling myself into the fetal position after seeing where the plane was headed) The scene would give you nightmares!

Hehehe, know the feeling. Though, not from aircraft, I'm allergic to them and got this annoying habit of always, and without exception, diving to at least 30 meters at first contact.

But I had a little experience not that long ago, doing surface attack on a 2 boat convoy of passenger liners that was entirely defenseless. Short on fishes I had to get real close to make sure each hit. Some bad navigating later (and busy at the deck gun), I found myself on a crash course with the front liner...

Lot of noise later, but no damage. That liner should have cut my sub in half just aft of the conning tower. Something is not right.

First you sink 90K tons of shipping in one patrol then you wonder about realisim :hmm:

You dident mention what mods you were running. My guess is there is a muck up in damage modeling there somewhere.

I have been 'run over' by a few ships and they typically lose the fight, espically DD's which tend to burst into flames after running you over (shrug).

But Aircraft can and will kick by butt thats why I run submerged in the daytime.

No mod's installed, so that is normal. It was set to a low realism (I had it set higher, but hit the wrong buttion when I had made some other changes), but when I've been attacked in the past (even at this low realism) I've suffered damage.

The Realism has been boosted back up

the colisions ingame are not at all realistic, so i just have goten used to them, maybe a mod will come, or a patch to fix this realism issue, sure is fun to watch though.
