Default How to sink Yamato battle ship in easiest way?

To sink Yamato I need at least 7-9 torps, but I don't know if there is a weak spot to the armor belt in order to spare some torpedoes... I tried dozens ways but no luck...
And as far as I know there are Tasks force near Kobe harbour and Hiroshima harbour with battle ships, fleet carriers etc...
Are there any other places with warship groups?

Default take a look around

In some of the other forums or under search you can find a list of Japenese Naval Bases. I've found some at Kobe, Truk Lagoon, and Rabuel and I've heard rumours of them being seen at Manila. Haven't checked that on out, there seems to always be a task force in the Celebes Sea and or Bismark Sea untill mid 1944. As for sinking a Yamato Class, if you can find one, it took me a while, 7 - 9 torps is normally pretty good. as for week spots, right in the middle under the command bridge is where they welded the to seperate sides. If you can hit about 5 meters down under the forward guns twice you usually rupture the forward magazine and make a big ka-boom!!!! then one or two more in the hind end, usually under the rear turrent marks the end of the ship. Hope this helps.

By the way, welcome to SH4 and Good Hunting!!

WELCOME ABOARD!

The best way to sink Yamato is to throw a couple of carrier task-forces at it.:rotfl:

In real life it took a bunch of torpedoes and bombs, but given that that was probably overkill, 7-9 fish sounds pretty close. No weak spots there.

I found a Task Force with a Yamoto in the South China Sea once, was near the beginning of my career so I still had my Porpoise so I had to fire all 4 forward tubes, then swing around and fire the 2 rear tubes and then dive and get in position to fire again and unload all 6 tubes again and then it still took 2 more torps before the thing finally sank (and they were well spread out, not all in the same place). It's so wide, seems like it's a lot more stable in the water than the other battleships I've sunk, making it harder to capsize.

Although I still havnt encountered a Yamato .. I find that with ships of the BB design (mainly Fusos and Kongos) aiming a fish under the boilers (ie. stacks) , two under the bridge, and the rest between the two forward main guns, usually results in a near instant destruction (stacks= no propulsion, bridge=no command and under turreets=ammunition)

With Regards,

Krauter

Or use the KillerSub mod and take it surface to surface battle.

Oh, brother. Another one of those. If it isn't playable, what is? It is not only playable, but excellently playable. I'm on my 10th cruise and have not been retired yet. Of course I complete my missions. Ignorant comments like the above will get no praise from this group.

Hey, does Killer Sub work OK with patch 1.3? If so I'd love to try it out sometime. Heh, heh, heh. There goes my reputation as a realism junkie...
