now that i'm here, i may just as well ask a question that has been bothering me ever since i was playing SH3:
i understand that u-boat captains used to preset multiple torpedo solutions, then fire them all off in a quick salvo and immediately DIVE DIVE DIVE!! i've never learned how to perform this tactic in SH3. i can only calculate the angle for a distant target and fire a slow torpedo at it - then target a nearer ship and quickly get another fish out before they all go at me. what i want is my TDC to remember any setting for each selected torpedo individually. that is, if i set some distance, bearing and speed coords for my aft torpedo, it should store these settings even if i calculate other data for a frontal torpedo. so after coming back to my aft torpedo, i'd basically merely have to update the current bearing as given by my periscope and maybe, if i have the time, adjust the AOB. i guess my problem is due to confusion with using both notepad and TDC to some extent? how is it done for advanced sub captains? surely there must be a way and i just haven't found it yet in the tutorials and wikis. ![]() |

i could be mistaken but i believe SH3 only allows you to input data one torpedo at a time.
anyone know different?

I believe the Germans, cunning people that they are invented a method. Under a highly secret project known only to a trusted few, called 'The Pen' :rotfl:

If you are shooting at a convoy (all ships with same speed and course) with low gyro angle (targets near your bow), the firing solution for one target is good for all others, you must simply point and shoot. If shooting with somewhat larger gyro angle, you must only calculate the range of each target (with notepad), other settings remain the same.
Have a look at this page http://www.paulwasserman.net/SHIII/ about how to set the TDC for multiple shots in a convoy Maraz |

yes i know
http://www.paulwasserman.net/SHIII/ a good site - the fact that it doesn't mention any other means of data storage should already have answered my question. ![]() regarding the pen: you are right. they probably did just the same in ww2 boats! let's see how my first patrol with this new GWX will develop.. this evening. ![]() |
