On windows xp? By 09, XP will be outdated then you have to get vista to play SHV, but I still want to see a muti-nation sub game, pick a sub from different nations during World War 2 like British Subs in the Pacific or Japanese subs carrying top secrect stuff to the Germans, one of many examples.

Recently it was stated by M$ that XP support will be prolonged at least to 2008.

I thought they said SH4 would be the last? Then again, my memory is not reliable.

My hopes rest on winehq.org who are working on a project to make DX10 available for Windows XP and Linux. I would gladly pay, if required, for unofficial DX10 for XP instead of upgrading to a massive resource hog with probably a dozen more annoying features like the security center and shady monitoring/logging shiesse in it!

Reading today that there are expectations for Vista to be dumped, and replaced with a new OS (Vienna?) by early 2009, with DX11.

Coincides with reports from other contacts I have within the IT industry, that Vista is going the way of ME.

Looks like XP may have quite a bit of life in it yet, and may be the best platform for any new game.

Sorry,But I have windows vista, and I think it is Bill Gates second ME OS system.
It will take XP a long time to die.

Where is this talk located? Do you have a link that we can all go look at?

That and after the mess that SH4 was...and still is...i hope either UBI has learned something or will stay away from the project alltogether.

Just my two cents...

Iam trying to find that link again, I think it was on Ubisoft site. From over sea's.

I hope and think they will go back to the U-boat sim again that has always been a money maker for them. I think the world market likes a U-boat sim better, then a US sub sim.

Ubi don´t say anything about a new subsim yet, one question is if they will make another subsim after the problems with sh4 ?

let me remember Sh series

sh1 pacific scenary
sh2 atlantic
sh3 atlantic
sh4 pacific

and shV ??? a merge with both ?? a modern nuke sim ??...:hmm: who knows...

how about this

SHV

Using subs built between 1912-2010, and you get to pick your time period

how coo would that be....sadly i doubt that would ever happen, would kick serious butt if it did though

If they do make a SH5 I'm hoping they go back to the Atlantic/Med but with a twist instead of U boats they do allied subs, RN and USN boats. Would be cool to lurk outside Brest or St Nazaire and fire a spread of fish at a passing U boat seting out on patrol or returning.

my personal thought is that if they make it a Allied game ill never play it...what is the fun in desroying tiny bits of German commerce considering they didnt need much being mainly a land locked war so supplies generated mainly between countrys, and also who wants to try and continuously put fish into the sids of lil u-boats, no fun in that and its kind of unrealistic...sure it happened occasionally but sub on sub warfare was not a pastime for the USN/RN navy.

No matter what theater, any new WWII subsim will have to be a major improvement on what we already have, or else what's the point?
