What Happend?

On patrol AN18 of coast near Iverness,rough sea spot small patrol
boat.Continue on,on surface.After taking one fired round from patrol
boat,dive to 40m.10m left to bottom.Go to silent running,after 15min.
hear loud explosion,not typical of DC.Heard no splash on hydrophone
prior to explosion.All is quiet for 10min,sneak up to periscope depth.
Before diveing noted she had DC cans on aft deck.When I pick her
up thru periscope I see her fan tail on fire,she is heading away now
so I follow her for 10min.Now fire appears to have grown quite
large.Surface and see her about 5000m away really engulfed
in a huge fire befor we can reach her she goes down.Have no
idea of what could have caused that to happen,we fired no
fish at her.Checkd our, log no credit for a ship.What do you
think could have caused that to happen to a ship.
