Default Saved Game Files

I want to move my game files to a secondary drive, and what I need to know is how do I tell the program to look in the new location for the saved game files. I looked in the main cfg files in C:\Documents and Settings\ 'My logged in username'\My Documents\SH3 and none of the parameters deal with changing drive location for these saved game files.
Did a modify of my install from Add/Remove it has a prompt for saving game files, it defaults to C: (my main drive) but doesnt give me a choice to browse for another drive.

Is there no way to change that, the game files have to be on the same drive as the program? or is there a way?

If I have to I can backup the game files, reinstall the OS on a larger drive, I just want to cut corners. Thanks

All save files are stored in your system's "My Documents" special folder, by default located on C:\ drive. It won't matter where your SH3 is installed, be it C, D, Q, or Z drive, it will still look to C:\ drive for your save files.

For most people this isn't a problem. However, you can "repoint" your *whole* "My Documents" folder to another drive if you really want to, but be warned that the *whole* folder and *all* contents are moved and it becomes the new location for *all* programs that access "My Documents". Indeed, this may or may not be a bad idea depending on your setup. For example, *my* "My Documents" folder is located on my F:\ drive, the same drive where all my data is stored. Checkout http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310147 if you think this solution is best for you.

Otherwise, the only part you can control is the "SH3". You can change this to any combination of three chars using Potoroo's MultiSH3 (search this forum). SO use SH3 for your stock installation, GWX for your GWX, WAC for WAC etc etc etc...

Thanks! I will try this! This may yet save untold amounts of memory!
