Hi folks!
I just bought and installed RTW. http://www.totalwar.com/ This one was voted "game of the year" and I can see why. Big historical battles, awesome graphics, and you have a whole map to conquer. I'm just diving into this game and I was wondering which mod you recommend. Rome Total Realism or SPQR Total War seems to be the big cheese. Rome Total Realism http://www.totalrealism.net/ SPQR Total War http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=32 I bought the Rome: Total War Gold Edition which includes the Barbarian Invasion for $20. What a bargain! Anyhow, I didn't load the BI yet until I learn more about this game. Cheers ![]() |

Get Europa Barbarorum. Tons of neat units, nice factions, nice building tree.

Thanks for the tip Tt!
http://www.europabarbarorum.com/e Dang! Another monster mod! I haven't installed Barbarian Invasions yet. Is this mod similar to that? At first, I was planning on building the Roman Empire and saving it. Now I may just try and grind it out as a Barbarian and sack the empire. Lots of options in this game. Wow! Cheers ![]() |

Rome total war is on Valves Steam program now if you cant find it in stores for 19.95 (comes with the great expansion)
I recommend it, it will test even a brilliant tacticle mind, and sharpen the newer ones ![]() |

Europa barbarorum is not like barbarian invasion, but you need to have installed Barbarian invasion before you can run most of the bigger mods as BI updated the basic RTW with significant extra features which are used by the modmakers.
Barbairian invasion focuses on the fall of rome Europa Barbarorum, like RTR, focuses on the rise of rome. I don't know which is better. I was always an RTR man myself, but that was because on my old machine, EB (as it's known) ran at a poor framerate. Not because of any judegement on the reltive merits. I understand both are more or less equally great, though EB has undoubtedly the better name. Be warned...arguments as to which is better are similar to arguments about GWX and NYGM or the Real fleet boat deck gun fight. Anyway, both mods are still very much alive and significantly improved versions are still in development Since i got my new PC i haven't actually reinstalled RTW yet as my submarine obsession has grown so great that it brooks no rivals, although i do every now and again think about getting it going again. But then the sea calls...

Thanks again everyone! I've decided to go with the Europa Barbarorum mod for now after reading some good things about it. It looks like the mod has more than 80,000 downloads so far. Yes, 80,000 Wow!
The correct link is here: http://www.europabarbarorum.com/ My attempts at building a vibrant economy with vanilla has been dismal thus far... so I might as well Mod this thing up and hope for the best. The infamous manual dilemma rears its ugly head once again. You know the deal. Search and then search more for answers. Cheers ![]() |
