Is it just me, or does that picture look a bit... fake?

It looks fake to me. Would a sub commander take his sub that close to shore? I don't think so. Then again, there may be some nice looking women on the beach that the binoculars don't do justice to!:hmm:

the pic does look fake. But on the other hand the Chilean Navy are a crazy bunch of life-loving maniacs.

Looking at google earth, it seems the port of Acapulco is in a river estuary, so that by going there, you surely would pass quite close to a beach.

Same situation as going into Rostock. You passed Warnemünde Beach on one side with only around 50-100 meters distance to the beach.
Of course all hands and all binoculars were watching to starboard while approaching the Warnow estuary and navy ships develop a noticable list to starboard going in and port going out.
I wonder what resolutions the new electro-optical scanning systems can archieve at that distances.

:rotfl:

On the other hand, Acapulco, isnt exactly on a straight course for San Diego anyway, being almost in Baja California, so the visit might have been exactly for that purpose.
