Default Some shots

Just some screen shots of a voyage ive recently compleated.

The ship is the origional SS Oriana built for the orient lines, it then became P&O later on, but the ship itself has only recently been scrapped.

Built in 1959 she was made specificaly for the southampton to sydney route operating as a liner, the voyage would take her through the straight of gibralter the suez canal and then finaly into australia itself.

But when air travel made the crossing a 26 hour affair and not 2 weeks, the trade died off and orient lines was taken over by P&O, and eventualy oriana saw herself being refitied as a cruise ship.

After many decades of service the orian was paid of in the 1980's and sold to a japanese company however the venture went bust and it was another decade before she would be sold again this time to a chinese venture.

The venture was a sucsess and lasted for a few years untill a storm finaly claimed oriana, in 2004 a storm hit the area oriana was moored in, and she took on water and listed heavily, all efforts to salvage and repair her were seen as to great a cost.

In 2005 oriana was rightend and towed down to wayou scrap yard for dismatling.

But her memory lives on !

Oriana moored in southampton england due for departure

Before entering the suez egyptian authorites borded the oriana to make sure everything was ship shape and bristol fashion, aso at this point she takes on a pilot.

The dutch ship Rotterdam and oriana moored alongside prepareing to sail into the first leg of the suez, rotterdam is slower therefore oriana will enter first.

A view from the bridge the suez egypt one side and saudi arabia the other this is mid morning and about half way down the canal.

Sunrise over the coast of australia sadly theres no acctual scenary for this part of the voyage so thats all there was sorry!

See?!! It is already clouding your addiction and forcing you to think about something other than piloting ships! We are already on the right track as I can see. Now just keep continuing along this path of enlightement, and you will be cured for all time!
