Game crashes

Finally got some free time, so I decided to play SH3 and the goddamn game crashes within 10 minutes into the patrol.

I let my anger cool for an hour and start the game again and it $!%&king crashes again!!!

When things like this happen I just want to crack the disk and ask for my money back. It used to happen occasionally, but now it just reached the roof of my BS tolerance level. Any ideas what might be causing this? I think I have a decent computer (1gig ram) but I can't tell you more than that because I don't know jack about computers.
