If a DD hears you and you move to another positian and go to silent running and the enemy thinks your somewhere your not when they fire loads of depth charges turn to where your engines are facing the charges and sail away the enemy's hydrophone will hear there depth charges not your engines.

It only works when there is only one DD looking for you.....
When there is one of the buggers throwing ashcans at you and one listening for you it will never work.......

An obvious way to avoid DDs during convoy attacks is to dive deep under the convoy and then very slowly head in their opposite direction. The merchants engines will shut away your own sounds.
