Due to the amount of day after day spam and nobody else helping to clean it up day after day, automatic new user account has been disabled.
Instead a Request Account page was created with the proper info. It was a nessesary step because the version of mediawiki used lacks any alternate new user verification and or low-life spammer prevention.
It's now sort of an e-mail process, but any new account for log on will be processed as soon as possible. A log on is required for edits / new page creation.
