Occasionally I find i can't set my speed in terms of knots. For example, i try to set to 8kts, instead it travels at 5 or 6. The arm on the knot meter just goes straight past 8 to the 5 or 6 mark. (It's a flat calm by the way)
When this happens and i use the telegraph, the speeds it adopts are not the normal speeds either. For example ahead standard is 9-10kts - this is a VIIB, 1939. Has anyone else encountered this, and is it just one of dem tings, or is it a known issue? joe

Are there enough men in the engine department ?
Are they fit or tired/fatigue ? Is the engine damaged ?

Are you recharging batteries? Til they are recharged...only one motor is running a prop as the other is recharging the battery.

No i don't think it's any of those things at all. The only thing that cured it was to save, exit and reload...
it is however a new campaign with a raw crew and that can make it hard to fully load out the engine room. However, i still don't think it's that

it could be weather. Even if it looks calm the wind and waves slows you down.
