Hiyas,
I am having a tough time conserving battery life. In Sept 43 leaving Lorient, Im finding that I get radar signals every 10 km and have to crash dive to avoid the ridiculously accurate bombs that seem to drop right inside the conning tower through the open hatch. ![]() Is there a trick to saving battery life... as I surface dive surface dive... ![]() My battery is almost dead an the planes are still circling. Gasp! Without a snorkel whats the way to maximize submerged battery life?

travel submerged at ahead slow, or set speed to one knot, use a depth of 30 to 50 meters.
Stay down until your battery life is down to about 50%, surface to recharge at ahead flank so that diving time is reduced if you must dive. Only surface to recharge at night. RWR gives you plenty of warning, and the planes do not turn in to attack you until they are within a couple of KM anyway. when you crash dive dont forget to go back to ahead slow or 1kt whenever the boat levels. you will spend much of the remainder of the war under the water. welcome to "Der Untergang"
