Default Problem with F1

I recently reinstalled SH3 with GWX and SH3 commander.

But today I wanted to check on the neutrality of a merchant so I pressed F1. On doin so I saw I had the stock help F1 screen. Does commander overwrite the GWX F1??

secondly After installing Commander I noticed the ship names had changed (Tramp becomes kustenboot similar with others), where lies the fault there?

I've had that problem with other games when I install mods and stuff. I haven't yet found a solution to the problem, but i sure hope somebody has...

The F1 button in GWX gives you general information regarding the game and flotillas. If you want to know the status of a country you should do it at the periscope screen. In there on the top left hand there is a drop tab that has all the countries and their status.

This problem will occur when:

a) you install mods *over* GWX that change either *_menu.txt or *_help.txt - to resolve, disable/remove all mods and try again.

b) you are running SH3 on Vista and did not install either the v1.4b patch OR GWX correctly - to resolve, search for one of my numerous posts on the subject and follow the suggestions.

c) you use German text and are running GWX patch 1.02 or earlier - to resolve, upgrade to GWX 1.03.

It's seemingly a common problem as it's posted reasonably regularly.

FWIW though and notwithstanding the fact that you do have a conflict, melnibonian's way is prolly the better way to determine a nationality's war state.
