Default Am I cheating?

Maybe you noticed that too - you can use the sonar to estimate the range far beyond 4000 meters. As soon as the contact appears on the hydrophone, you can send a ping and then push the "send range to TDC". You will get the range no matter how far the contact is, even at 33 km (although the ping error varies +-3 km at this range). That means you can find out the approximative range to target at any moment. Is it correct?

I've noticed the same thing too. You shouldn't know the range until the ping comes back. The best way not to cheat is to volluntarily not press the range button till you hear the return ping.

Another thing I've noticed is that the SO's sonar range is inflated compared with the 0-5000yard range indication.

Plus I thought it'd be cool if the dial kept going round and around so I could count as many yards as I like >.>
