Default Looking For New Monitor

I need to replace my old 20" Sony CRT Dinosaur. I heard Dell believe it or not, makes some really decent monitors. Can anyone provide me some info into this? First hand experience would be best. Best models for gameing! Thanks in advance.

Good luck with it

Good value for money is the 226BW 22" from Samsung. They had some probs with different "Panel" qualities, but as far as i have heard they should have fixed that.
Its all explained here sort a

Couldn't agree more. I have one of these and love it.

How much do you want to spend?

Samsung makes very good, bang for the buck flat panels. Dell's Ultrasharp series use Samsung panels. Price and style are pretty much the deciding factors between these two.

I recently traded up from a Samsung 225BW to a Dell 2707WFP and I think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. But why the Dell and not the Samsung 275T? The Dell fit on my desk.... the Samsung was too tall.

Thanks for some of the ideas guys. I may look into the Dell line, since my brother in law could get some good deals on Dell products through the company he works for.

I'm a ViewSonic fan myself but if you can get a good rate on a Dell flat screen--they do make some VERY good monitors!

Cheers!

About 10 days ago I went to Best Buy & picked up the Samsung 226BW 22inch LCD to replace my 4 yr old Viewsonic CRT.

My 1st 226BW (made in Mexico) was a huge disappointment. The colors were all washed out & were actually worse then my old monitor. The color adjustment system broke down & within 6 hours I was back at the store exchanging it.

I kept #2 for another week & spent hours with Samsung tech support trying to get the game colors to be somewhat fair, but to no avail.. This monitors colors were all washed out & monitor calibration only worsened it for me. I most likely really don't understand how to accurately calibrate, but the Samsung people didn't either.

I took monitor # 2 back yesterday and picked up a HP W2007 22inch which had very good colors right out of the box.

From my research I understand that the first Samsung 226bw's were excellent, but since the original test monitor with the top of the line parts is long gone, we are stuck with the cheaper made outsourced models.
I guess it is hit & miss with the Samsung 226bw now.

For my $$$..I will go with the HP W2007... games look very good.

THat's too sad. My BW226 is LOVELY! I bought one of the first ever released in sweden. Had to pay some for it of course, but I've never been happier with any monitor.

I have had a Dell 24" since January and I cannot fault it, after a lot of reading on various web forums I made sure I specifically asked for the latest revision model (A03) and I could not be happier with it, Dell has some awesome deals now and again, I got a new wireless keyboard and mouse AND $400 AUD off the normal web price, and the DELL service is apparently great as well, although I have not had to use it

I'm very happy with my iiyama 22" ProLite E2200WS LCD, but I love the 17.0" UltraSharp™ Wide Screen WUXGA (1920x1200) TFT Display with TrueLife on my Dell XPS M1710 laptop.
