Default Patch 1.3; is it worth it?

I've given up playing SH4 v1.2 some time ago due to high rates of CTD and the well known bugs. During that time I was also not able to keep in pace with you guys. Now I see that v1.3 is ready. So what do you guys think? does it worth downloading and risking a new disapointment???

DURUK,

Read the long version of my post in the linked thread below about playing SHIV with patch v1.3 and TM v1.4. If you don't believe my recommendation for SHIV patched and modded this way, well . . . you aren't going to believe anyone.

Besides, you've already paid for the program, what do you have to lose to try again with patch v1.3?

Trust me, you have no idea how disappointed I was with the release version of this game. On average, I probably play about 20 hours per week since installing patch v1.3 and the TM v1.4 mod (yes, I'm retired).

You can find the thread I'm referring to by clicking on this link:

It's an excellent game now thanks to the modders around here and the "bean counters" at UBI who finally saw some financial sense in reasonably satiating SHIV customers.

Regards

It is worth attempting again with the new patch. As far as CTD issues, often I find reading the forum that CTD are hardware issues. Leave beside the dreaded A key CTD that has been repaired. What do you have to loose? Not much. What do you have to gain? A very nice game and plenty of new mods to make it better.

Game with v1.2 plus mods was wornderful...

V1.3 is great too, fixes many things, but... ruins some others.

You have too strong DDs now, specially DDs bows wich are armored as BBs bows now, and can resist many torpedo impacts with non sense, and no damaga at all.

BBs are some weak...

DDs sinking after raming you periscope bug is still present, you can fix it, makeing the DDs mnore strong, but then they become so strong to sink, and take more torps than a BB to be killed.

Patched to 1.3, the game is playable and enjoyable. Add a mod like Trigger Maru 1.4, and SH4 becomes a sub sim rather than a game.

Im not so sure if the 1.3 patch will address your CTD issues as others stated it is usually hardware / driver related.

But hey its free and worth a try.

Good luck.
