How do you get awarded with new boats ? I sunk so many ships worth 10000 + tons still i dont get any

A little more detail would be helpful :p How many war patrols have you been on? What sub did you start with? 10K + isn't really a lot. That could really be just 1 large ship.

My last campaign started in a Gato late 42 and after 5 WP (I believe) I was offered the Balao. I probably had over 100K tons sunk by that time.
