Rather a lot of pictures to look at there, but some very nice ones. Cheers.

I was only a Five Jump Chump, but the first thing that sprang to mind was:

"Keep your feet and knees together, or we'll be here forever!"

Edit: Which has nothing to do with "don't ask don't tell".

Military parachuting is the most fun you can have with your pants on. However i hear jumping with your pants off is quite invigorating...

I've only ever made one parachute jump, and that was enough for me.

I stupidly got the idea that since I fly gliders and you have to wear a parachute when you do that, so you fit in the seat properly as it is designed to take one, I'd better learn how to use one in the correct way.

I did it with the Army, and I thought: 'this is going to be great, I'll get to jump out of the back of a C-130', which I'd managed to convince myself I could just about bring myself to do if I closed my eyes.

But what did they make me jump out of? Yup, a tethered balloon at 800 feet, off a static line. Scared the living crap out of me.

And what is all that crap about 'oh it's just like jumping off a wall when you land' Actually it's more like 'jumping off a wall that's going sideways at 20 mph when you land'.

I'm glad I know how to use a parachute, but I certainly hope that it remains a rather expensive cushion, as I never want to do that again.

I have not looked it up. But with my Zonen-School-Russian i would say it means the english "Slideshow" (Bilderfolge [weiter]) in russian (the word more or less in cyrillic letters). I mean really 'slideshow' but in 'russian'.
If you take the cyrillic letters: "s l e d u jou schtsch a ja"
I'm really shure, but I could be also wrong, of course.

You are right. I majored in Soviet Studies, and had to take just enough Russian to keep me totally frustrated.

Ah, das ist schwer! (really hard for me to translate - and than again translate in English - ''just out of the hip' and without dictonary)
But, I woud say, you said (more or less with much throwing coints), that in your language (Serb?), if you (one) are (is) not good in russian, you (one) could still make one understandable in Russian...or anything in this way...:hmm:
I'am totally wrong? ...

It's maybe like Dansk and German...:hmm:
