God I love this Game...!

To the folks who contributed to the completion of GWX you have my heartfelt thanks!! A good game has been made GREAT !

The other night I brought my laptop into work to show my friends the graphics. It Just so happened I was running on the surface during sunset and the view was.. well.. quite spectacular. It was so sharp an clear I turned around to the small crowd that had gathered and said
" Who needs Royal Carribean? "

I think when I retire next month Im going to lock myself in my office with a margarita making machine (courtesy of William and Sonoma) and get hammered while I plod endlessly through the Atlantic.

BTW I have yet to unlock the mystery that is the ships gramaphone.
Is it not supposed to be like the old record player from AoD. I can click on it til Kingdom come and get nada. I have the regular ingame music off as it annoys me. So if this disables the gramaphone as well
than that answers my question. If NOT please bestow on me this pearl of knowledge so I can listen to some bloody music!! Also isnt there a selection of different music (like in AoD), I see no menu or scrolldown window anywhere.

Thank You all for Your Hard Work and Assistance !!

i think that if the music volume is down gramophone music is affected.

to the left and right of the play and stop buttons are arrows that will allow you to skip forward and backward through songs.

You'll find that if you click on the radio operator the grammophone is an option for him. there is a play track forward and track backward button once you select the option on the RO.

You can fill your grammophone folder with whatever .MP3 and .OGG files you want and play music till the cows come home. Just drop the files into C:\Program Files\ubisoft\Silent Hunter III\data\sounds\grammophone and you are away.

No you can turn the in game music on without stopping the grammophone. They are two separate controls.

Hi Hanomag,

I'm a bit confused by some of the posts above... so I'll run through how it should be with the default GWX setup...

New menu music should play...

Ingame, there should be no music except when you hit "play" on the gramophone.(The ambient "always on" in-game music has been disabled so you can hear what's going on around you.)

The gramophone is already loaded with some basic stuff to get you started... and should play when you activate the gramophone as mentioned.

If you haven't further modified your game... all the above should occur without you having to lift a finger to modify anything. Otherwise, you may have a corrupted installation or have added other mods that change elements of GWX.

I hope that's a bit clearer than mud.

Anyway, on behalf of the GWX dev team, thank you for your kind words.

Welcome to subsim! Here is your potato peeler. Fritz is waiting on you in the galley.

Gramophone: You need to press that big left button to start playing. For some that sounds obvious, but you might have missed it.

With the arrows you can cycle through the songs. The botton in the middle stops the playing.

Default Its Never Worked

The Gramaphone has never .. ever worked for me. Even with an UN-altered fresh install I get nothing. I click the Radioman Icon ...Click the Gramaphone...Click Play and get nothing. I must have it disabled somehow. Unless my dvd/cd was corrupted from the factory.

Default Ok...

I knew it would be something simple.... guess I will be peeling in the galley for alot longer than normal, tell Fritz Ill be right there.

The "music circle" in the audio options needs to be unchecked but the music volume needs to be audible. I had it set to the opposite thinking "music" meant gramaphone music and the knob represented the ingame music. Oh well problem solved and I have lost my Uber Bilge Rat title in the process!

Thanks Again Gang.

I will try to find more inane technical problems due to R-Tardedness to keep the more L33T of our fleet busy during that quiet time between Patrols !!

That's because in the stock game there's no music in it.:rotfl:

Sorry, you just made remember that fact. I know that you couldn't know without looking. It just sort of struck me the right way.

Put some mp3 files to ...\data\Sound\Gramophone\ and you can start them ingame as described above

I've never really thought much of the record player. Not my taste in music lol, but hell it makes it so immersive. Just sailing across the Atlantic with it playing some old music throughout the ship makes it feel so much more alive.

The beauty of it is you can put any music you want into the folder and play whatever your taste is. I have classical, jazz, WWII period mostly but occasionally I'll let rip with some contemporary stuff when I feel like it. That is why I love this game. You can do play it the way that suits you.
