I bought today a gewehr bayonet, the whole thing is made out of steel, it has two rings for which it would attach to the rifle, it has a groove down the middle on each side of the blade and one side of the blade is fatter than the other. The handle is steel as well, and has the number 37428 stamped on it, and has a button to release the bayonet once it is attached to the rifle. Any idea what I have here, if it is ww2 or what? How much is it worth? Whether the wood has been removed or if it is made like that to save time. It has the sheeve it came in i found it for 33$

I jave at home a Lee Enifield Bayonet. My gandfather brought it home when he returned from the war.
Unused (Glad about that! ![]() ![]() At least it was safer than the clip of .303 ammo that was rusting in the gararge! ![]() |

ww2 k98 rifle bayonets look like this late pattern http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Heer/photos/H030457.html earlier one's look like this http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Heer/photos/H030257.html do a google search for "K98 bayonet" , gewehr basically just means rifle.Im not sure about the bayonets for the Gewehr 43 (Rifle Model 1943 - a self loading rifle) , but possibliy they used the k98 model. Edit - ok , Gewehr 43 didnt use a Bayonet. |

The metal looks like it was sandblasted, and someone obviously welded that rear ring on the handle. Looks like some amateur did it too, the weld looks AWFUL.
