Ive seen a few quick comments like "Pop off a decoy and go deep" so I assume they work.

Personally I dont even know how to launch one.

Signal flares the submarines had. Decoys the did not not. I understand the decoys do work but again, this was not a tool the submariners had at their disposal.

On Eugene Fluckey's last patrol he had some pretty intersting equipment.

Radar mounted on the scope.

Rocket launcher with rockets.

Star shells (mistake)

Rifle grenades.

Two types of homming torpedos.

And an assortment of noisemakers.

Fluckey used all the noisemakers at once after a life and death struggle with a brand new IJN destroyer started to turn against him. He had a bad batch of MK 18s and was caught in shallow water. I think there were like 9 duds. HE used the entire supply of decoys at once and made so much noise that it allowed him to run at flank until he hit deep water.

I've only see the bubble decoy, never see the other two. Definately not upgrades that you can purchase.

I know for SURE that the Ice cream machine and ice cream ammo are not in the game, but they are in the file

Oh, and this is in the game labelled as an advanced periscope, and as an upgrade, ST radar. Not enabled tho.

Yes, I've read Fluckey's book and he did have decoys on board the last patrol - probably hydrogen-peroxide based noise makers, not sure. He also wrote of taking a five gallon bucket filled with oil/fuel and poking some holes in the top and spitting it out a tube. I remember reading at least once aircraft circling the position where he let loose this contraption as the Barb snuck away.

The ST scope-mounted radar is for range info only, not search. Too bad it is not in-game.
