Yesterday went to the Montreux Jazz festival with friends, as it was a last minute thing no more tickets for the big name groups were left. It was metal day, Motorhead were playing which explained the abundance of bikes and leather in town. Went to a pool for some swimming and sun, then wandered the market and food stands (free music as well) until we ended up at the Montreux Jazz Cafe which features free music during the festival.
Some eats and drink and we saw a very good jazz band from the UK called Dennis Rollins http://www.dennisrollins.com/dennis_Main.html Well at the end of theri set before the jam, Claude Nobs (the originator and organiser of the fesitival) got up and thanked the band and then thanked "A great man of music, Mr. Quincy Jones!!" pointing up to the private gallery we had been prevented from entering earlier in the evening. Well Mr. jones waved at the crowd who went wild. Then the jam started and some people got up to play, very talented, my fave was this young blond lady who played mean drums. ![]() |
