Default Calm Crew.

It always amazes me how calm the crew is when the flooding is so heavy that the DCT cant keep up with it and the sub is at 768 feet and sinking fast:hmm:

Yea.

One thing that`s always bugged me ever since the original Silent Hunter years ago was the lack of `Humanity` in sims like this. Sure in the late 1980s computer abilty was too limited to do much, but with today`s computers a little more `character` added to each person would go a long way to feel like you`re captain of a crew not just a ship.

But nearly 20 years later and crew are still just functional robots.

Maybe when i`m 60, they`ll finally add crew that actually have a little computer `character sheet` with their biography and perhaps react by cheering when they get a kill and by looking actually afraid when things go bad.

Actually, the crew in the control room cheers when you get a torpedo hit.

Really, they do??????

Never heard that.
Guess one would have to be there. I'm always looking through the scope or at the map when diving.

The visual representations are fubar. The voice acting is a bit immersing, but it's not top gear so meh...

Maybe something`s wrong with my sound because I don`t hear any cheering. I did notice when I looked about that the men do raise their fists and look happy each time I scored a hit. So they do actually do something - just silently. Hearing audible shouts of "Yea! Good one!" would certainly help when you`re looking through the scope.

Think Powerthighs is referring to SH3, this was modded in from Das Boot.

Heck I remember a hammering I took in SH3 where the CE, litterally was righting himself after one particularly close hit. What really gets me in sh4 is the water spraying in, but this is completely silent. Also, when you are really deep, you hull makes no strange or scary noises. What gives. In SH3 you knew by the sounds your boat was making how bad deep you were, the creeking was very unearving, all that was needed was the ominous music from Das Boot as U-96 plunged to the bottom of Gibraltar, that would have made the experience that much more theatric (cause of course there was no music in RL). In SH4 the sub just quietly descends beyond its limits and then the screen spins into the death sequence.
