Nice to hear people are using this. It's about as historically accurate as you're going to get. The skins have been extensivley researched and made to look as close as possible to what the real thing did. I started making it, but Ichneumon put in the bulk of the work and made it the awesome skinpack that it is.

The only trouble with the pack is that it seems to double the time it takes to load the game using SH3 Commander. I recently disabled the skin pack, and now the game loads much faster.

I'll probably re-enable it though. What's an extra minute or two for a more realistic playing experience.

I have it too and it's definitely worth the longer load times!

I've got what may be a foolish question, but since I already have a bunch of folders w/ the same dates in my SH3 Commander\Date folder that contain sound files, do I still extract directly into the \date folder (without messing up the SH3 Commander's sound files) or do I have to extract separately, then drag the contents of each date folder (ex: 19390901) into the corresponding dated folder that already exists?

If the folders already exist, the skin pack isn't going to overwrite anything (unless you already have another skin mod), it will just add to the folder and create more sub-folders.
