Two very different genres, but I'm looking for the best Western game and the best Pirate game. "Best" encompasses historically realistic and, well, fun. I've played GUN and I thought it was ok. I have Pirates! which I love, but I'm looking for something a bit more realistic in terms of ship battles. I'll ask about pirate games in the pirate forum as well -- just thought I'd check here.
Edit -- I see The Noob has already asked my pirates question in the Pirates Forum. Now about those Westerns... |

For a pirate game, i would also reccommend POTC. As for a western game, Call of Juarez rocks. Red Dead Revolver for PS2 is also very good.

"Call of Juarez" is the best western shooter ever to come out for a long time.

Yeah, call of Juarez is pretty damn cool.
I've been waiting for a decent western shooter since the last good one, Outlaws way back in the 90s. |

I played Gun. Stinking pile of crap if you ask me. Always wanted to try Red Dead Revolver. Never got to.
I played Call of Juarez last year. It's a great game. Kinda sucks that it's so short though. I beat it in 2 days and had no reson to play again. Scripted, not much replayability. However I never really got to try much multiplayer. From what I saw it seemed a little lacking. Has anybody gotten into CoJ mp? Are there a lot of people playing it? If the mp is good I might buy it. Otherwise I don't think it's worth it for such limited replayability. The game has a really cool duel boss fight thing in some parts of the game. Am I the only one who thinks they were dumb for not making that duel part into a multiplayer game mode? That would be hella fun. Sucks that the western genre is so underrepresented in video games. Guess it might be another year or 5 till the next good one. ![]() |

Age of pirates uses an improved version of the STORM engine. So it's POTC graphics but better.
