Default Requests for pics of the USS COD

Hey guys,
Might be going to the USS Cod in Cleveland tomorrow 05 Jun. If so, are there any requests for specific pictures of the boat?
It totally may not happen but any modders that need a reference pic, I may be able to help out.

Will check until 2300EST.

Some detail shots of the conning tower torpedo firing panel would be most appreciated. Other instruments/ indicators are welcomed too!

Default Weather

Well, weather not looking so good tomorrow. I'd like to look at the Cod but not too sure about fencing with all this frontal weather to do it. I have a low thunderstorm tolerence...unless I'm being well paid!

Post any requests anyway. If I don't go tomorrow, it's on my list for the future.

Deacon

P.S. OG I will do what I can.

Unfortunately, the Cod does not allow access to the conning tower. You're allowed to climb up the ladder about half way, which lets your head up there to look around. Makes it difficult to see any of the panels, especially being at floor level.

Well I wont be there... was there Saturday.

Anyway, the conning tower is off limits for the tourist...
Reason is we want to preserve our TDC (Mk4) which is probably the last Mk4 in the world that actually runs.
Pampanito has a Mk3 that also runs fine.

So, here some details...

Rangeindicator for SJ&STradar

PPI for SJ&ST

Firecontrol panel Conning tower

Firecontrol panel FWD Torp room

Stadimeter no2 periscope

Position Keeper Mk4 TDC (still working within the specs from WW2)

Need more?

groetjes,

deacon211, no hurry.

Gino, thank you for posting these, sir. It's somewhat difficult to come by high resolution reference material of this particular panel.

Unfortunately never made it. Did fly down to Suffolk where some multimillionaire has a fleet of WWII planes. The nicest on display was a fully functional PBY. If interested, I'll post pics.

Thanks for the nice pics BTW. Looks like much better than I could have managed!

I was there during the airshow on Sunday. Have seen a lot of people, but probably not you. (Which is a pity, I could have shown you the CT)

Maybe next time.

Anyway...for detail:

A close up of the conning tower fire control panel for the aft-torpedoes.

From the inside...

And if you look at one mirrored...

Now you can see that SH4 is not quite right with their version of the lights on the CT fire control panel (red/green flashing)

SH4 has a lot of Cod 'stuff' in there, but this one didn't quite make it...

groetjes,

I'll be in the area in about three weeks, not sure I'll have time to visit the Cod but I'll try. I did visit the Lionfish a couple of years back.

Well, durn, all this time in CLE (entire family from that region) and I never knew there were posters from the USS Cod group here?? I've been on that boat 3 times, I think. Last time, dragged my wife through. She actually enjoyed it. (Keeper )

Real shame you don't let people in the Con or higher, though. Adults, at least - I mean, I can see no kids (what they would do to the controls in USS Blueback out here sent shivers down my spine!)
