Ahoy mateys, got a bit of a technical quandry on my hands. Me old Mobo died some time friday, so I went and got a MSI K9VGM-V with a 4200x2 chip. Now since me old vid card was AGP, and this board doesnt have such a slot - I also picked up a x1650 Pro. 2 Gigs of Ram and a hefty power supply - and I figure I am in tall cotton, as we southerner's say....
Well - didnt quite turn out that well. After 2 days of fighting - I have actually got the beast stable enough using XP (32Bit) to run for more than 3 minutes. But I continue to get a stop error referencing avi2dvag.dll - and I have tried MANY different versions of catalyst to resolve. No overclocking going on - and have changed the PCI bridge from the via chipset (which it is) to standard and that has me running at the moment - but have any other PCIe ATI owners run into this? If so, let me know what your final fix was. I am not yet confident that the issue is resolved - as 30 minutes does not a stable PC make! The last two days have been spent with this Cap'n doing this -----> ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() To date - I have updated to the April release of Dx9, now running Cat 7.5, tried the updated via 4n1's but have only got stability using "standard" pci to pci bridging. There are no IRQ conflicts. I currently have VGA memory sharing disabled as the card has 512 on it and my onboard vid is disabled as well. I also have set my largest chunk size to the card to 2048 instead of 4096 - this and the PCI bridge changes have been the key. Feedback needed - I have searched online but if anyone here can add info - I would appreciated it! Would at least like to get my chunk size back up to max. EDIT - the forum made me remove some of me headbanging - but trust me - what you see is only a small fraction....
