Default Switching from NYGM to GWX

Hello everyone,
This is my first post but I've been lurking around here for a while. I've been using NYGM for a while now (can't even remember what stock SH3 was like) and I decided it was time to try out GWX.

I've hardly played GWX yet, but I'm having a few problems(?): (Freash install with 1.4b patch, then GWX.)
First, I have the realism settings at 90% (only external camera enabled), yet when I look at a ship through the UZO/Attack Scope/Obs. Scope, it is automatically identified.

Like I said above, I don't even remember what stock SH3 was like, so perhaps this is a standard thing that GWX has kept? Perhaps I'm missing something/doing something wrong?

Another thing I noticed was that the interior of the VIIB was the interior of the IX instead. Again, am I doing something wrong?

One last question: Can anyone here who has used both mods (NYGM & GWX) comment on the general differences (mostly realism wise) between the two?

Sorry for all the questions! I apologize if I've just missed something stupid.

I'm sure that the external camera is not as much as 10% of the realism. I can only think that manual targeting or no WO assistance are not switched on.

Nevertheless, will check this out with my installation.

I've never played NYGM long enough to comment on the realism differences between the two. However, at the time of NYGM, GW1.0 & 1.1a was the available version and they differed quite a bit.

I'm sure that GWX will surpass or equal NYGM in terms of realism but it is subjective. One man's realism is another's fantasy.

I hope you enjoy the GWX eXperience.

lol, watch out for the LRG Mod.:rotfl::rotfl:

The differences about NYGM and GWX. Well, a hard question but I will try to answer. I've played NYGM long time and when the NYGM stop work on their mod, I started to looking in direction of GWX, why? Because GWX is really amazing and I must said a live mod (with many new things everyday which may be in future versions), there are lot of new ships, aircrafts, have excellent campaign and historically very accurate also, lot of things is fixed, added positive buoyancy (very similar to negative buyoancy as seen in NYGM), and lot of other things. For realism, well the aircraft cover of Bay of Biscay is better then NYGM, for example in 1943 you cannot sail on surface in daytime, also in the night (yes, the radar coverage), destroyers are deadly also in GWX. Probably the sensors are different, but you have very cool option if you very like NYGM sensors, you can add this in GWX with mod by Ducimus "AI NYGM sensors" I don't know the realy name of that mod but you can find mod by search, personaly I use the great mod by Rubini "Stay alert crew fix mod" and very satisfied with effects of that mod. Things I very like from NYGM is slideout smallTDC dials, Torpedo realism mod and Assisted plotting mod. If you like it you may find that mods on my FileFront page http://hosted.filefront.com/poorsailor
Finaly, the GWX is great mod and worth long period of playing!

@danlisa: Thanks for the welcome.
Below is a screenshot of my realism settings. Perhaps I did something wrong while installing?

Here's what I did:
I had NYGM installed in \Silent Hunter III\ so I copied the contents to a new folder.
1. Uninstalled.
2. Reinstalled.
3. Installed 1.4b patch.
4. Copied newly installed folder to a new folder called "GWX". (So now I have 3 seperate installs.)
5. Installed GWX.
6. Installed GWX 1.03 patch.
7. Used MultiSH3 to change save file location to "GWX".
8. Enabled the following mods:
GWX - 16km Atmosphere
GWX - Captain America's Officer Icons
GWX - No Medals on Crew
Sobers 3D waves
dx9res10
WaW Missions (Training missions taken from NYGM.)
Camera Mod - User Edition (I enabled this mod after trying GWX for the first time. The camera was zoomed in way too much. Maybe it's just me being used to NYGM or maybe I screwed up my installation.)

9. Tried a training mission. (Ships were auto-identified.)
10. Tried starting a new career. (Still same problem.)

@poor sailor: Thanks for your comments! Especially about using things from NGYM in GWX. Also, thanks for the link to your FileFront page and for hosting those mods on there.

When you uninstalled/reinstalled SH3 did you delete/rename the folder in C\My Documents\SH3 ? You need to do this to have a totally fresh installation.

At least on my installation (GWX) with only the external camera enabled it says 90% realism.

No mate...your quite correct in what your stating I was making a friendly reference to the fact that your not using SH3Cmdr unlike the majority of those who play GWX (I think) :hmm:

Yeah, I renamed the folder to NYG. Also, when I installed GWX, I used MultiSH3 and changed the folder to use for that installation to GWX.

Actually, I do use SH3Cmdr. Love it too! I just didn't feel the need to mention it as I didn't use it to run GWX when I had these problems.

I guess that statement should have been more of a reply to The Joker's question about the realism procentage when you have external camera enabled. And yeah, I did also almost took it for granted "everyone" uses SH3Cmdr and forgot to mention that I use it with GWX. I myself would never start a patrol without this great mod/tool!
