I've had the game since it came out but I only started playing it after I got my new Graphics card. To be honest, I'm already bored of the Original campaign which seems to be a hack-fest of stupid and pointless fights against hundreds of bad guys - Yawn. If I wanted that I would download a Spectrum Emulator and play 'Gauntlet,' (Ah, memories, memories,!)
So i went to look for some new modules and found a very disapointing selection. Given that it has been out for six months now I expected a few more but I guess people are waiting for patches or whateer before getting down to work. Anyway, disapointed with the lack of good fun modules I thought I would give it a shot myself. Wow! it's great fun and I totally recommend messing around with the editor if you haven't done so already. My project is called 'The Shadow in the Marsh,' and will hopefully be a sort of Conan / Lovecraft / Cosmic horror cross when it's done. The biggest challenge is shoehorning my own ideas for a fantasy world into the D+D setting But I shall see how that goes. So far I've got the town of Marshgate built. it's looking nice. I've worked out how transitions between areas work and how to 'Bake' and area in order to create walk-maps and so forth but I need to start figuring out how to add scripted stuff like conversations, cut-scenes and events. Given how easy the rest was to figure out though I'm not unduly worried. It looks daunting but if you haven't tried the toolset yet you should. It's a lot easier to use than it looks at first glance. The one downside is my Sh4 modding is likely to be slowed right down...... ![]() |
