Default Load game failed

Yup, load game failed. During the most recent career mission I saved none less than 5 save games. All on the surface and all away from any enemy contact.

None will load. Not one single one.

Sucks

Make sure you are not using CD crack and your saves were made with the same patch you are playing now.

If those things are not a problem, it could be you have a hardware problem corrupting the saves.

No cracks, no patching inbetween saves (it was in the same mission).

Only thing I can think of is that my windows installation (and thus the documents folder etc) is not on a C:/ partition. If that is to blaim though, the devs have done a really bad job of things. You never _EVER_ use hard-coded paths in any app, only soft relative paths. Any fresh coder knows this after being yelled at the first time they try.

The price you pay for not using the Windows convention is to have to create a map to that path. SH4 is not the only game that saves there.

I have windows on d: and have not any problems with that, so I guess its not that

I have the same problem when made career and saves in v1.1, then patched to 1.2 and trying to load that.
Or maybe u changed your mods?

What do you mean "create a map to that path"? Enlighten me, I so want to continue on that ingame save

The "onEntering Base" and "onLeaving Base" saves works fault free, it is just ingame patrol saves that will not work. Done some further testing, and it absolutely flat out refuses to work. Every time I get "Load Game Failed".

I've not tried to save in mid patrol before this. My previous careers have all been doing a full mission without any saves, so I only just discovered this problem. Oh, and not due to some romantic notion that real sub-commanders didn't get to save, but rather that I had time to complete a patrol, and knew it.

As for mods, my current career (I'm on 2nd patrol, early 43, operating from Brisbane) using the TTM mod from the start. New mod, new career Well, actually I did the last patrol on my last career with TTM as well, but got so many holes in my sub that ComSubPac retired me to do highly important desk-jockeying. :p

Just to get things clear one more time...

You can restore auto-generated base saves.
You cannot load saves created since leaving from a base auto save?

Your career is intact from an auto save?
Sinkings and crew records are intact from an auto save?
Your graphics and game settings are preserved?

If so, this would indicate to me your SH4 folder in documents and settings is being read fine.

You are aware you cannot restore on-patrol saves made with a different patch version than the one you have now? You can only restore saves created after starting from a auto save made with the current patch.
