Default Loch Ewe in '42 - piece of cake

After reading a thread about some kaluens preferring deep water to harbors in GWX, I decided to attempt a raid into Loch Ewe during an early December morning with a light fog in a IXB .

Getting close to harbor entrance, I was relieved to only find a couple armed trawlers and a torpedo boat. I managed to evade all three until a third armed trawler appeared at the entrance. I tried evasive maneuvers, but the trawler detected my presence and began pinging me. I braced for a DC attack, but the trawler just ran circles around me, pinging incessantly. Then an aircraft showed up, made a bombing run and looked like it had me nailed, but dropped its load well away - perhaps trying to avoid the trawler.

Once inside Loch Ewe it was pretty much a piece of cake with lots of parked ships. The only damage was to the flak gun when my conning tower appeared when I was too shallow. The trawlers just hung around, guarding whatever ship was close by. After sinking 4 ships my torps were exhausted. I may head out to the closest milk cow to get a fresh load of fish and go back to clean up!

Like shooting fish in a barrel.

This tanker won't be heading out anytime soon.

Two armed trawlers that tailed me all the way in.

Bogue aircraft carrier ... there was an anti-torpedo net along its starboard side.

Torpedo boat doing 360s while I raided the harbor. Defenses were light.
