Default [REL] Love post-process filters but tired of that grainy effect?

I sometimes used to turn post-rocessing off because i got so fed up with that annoying grainy effect! Everything else in post-process filters looks brilliant with colors being more vivid, etc.

So after messing around the data folder a bit, i'm releasing this little mod
Tired of it? well, get rid of it !

This mod simply allow you to leave every post-processing filters running while turning the grainy effect off. After all we're playing a game, not watching an ol' movie...

Use JSGME.

did you find any increase in FPS by losing the grains?

I'd turned off PPF for the same reason, UGLY STATIC! like watching ant races on late night NO channel TV.

Using this it's never looked better, dark is REAL DARK! and the colors are brilliant

Excellent

Default thanx

thanks to you guys for the feedbacks

Glad to know you apreciate it. Yes, keeping PPF without grain effect has never made SH4 look that good, PPF really makes it way better, especially underwater.

As for the FPS, no gain. Actually i tricked the game to render a "transparent" noise, so the filter, in effect, is not really turned off...

How about editing X:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Filters\Templates\Noise.fxclass instead? Wouldn't it be easier?

So is there any point in getting this mod if you don't use post-processing filter?

MaxT, editing shaders directly are way more complicated.
To fredbass, There's no point in getting that mod if you want to turn post-process filters off in-game, that does already get rid of the grainy effect (but also all others...)
this mod is to turn specifically off the old movie like grainy effect while keeping all the others PPF on (colors rendition, contrast, etc.). Give it a try, PPF doesn't only implies grain effect.

It looks so much better without that "noise" texture. 200% improvement if you ask me, more crisp and deep colors.
